As we well know, it's time-consuming and often
confusing to navigate dozens of sites to plan your trip
online!
Because we are well aware how hard it can be to find
good, accurate information in one place in a short time,
it's occurred to use to make life easier so we list Travel Agents
on each of our main pages.

Even Romanians themselves sometimes forget that they have an inbound
tourism market. In so many ways, Romania is unspoilt by the sort of mega-developments
which have blighted much of the Mediterranean, and has made inroads sadly
into other parts of Central Europe.
You will not see the hordes of bargain seekers from England or America
lining the beaches on the Black Sea coast, but you will see the odd independent
traveller happily making their way in a country which offers both beauty
and good value.
Some will also point out that Romania has also "unspoilt" by actual
tourism infrastructure, but this is generally the mistaken the application
of a Western standard where it simply does not belong.
Romania lacks the superhighways, the big airports, and the massive resort
complexes of so many other countries who have the golden sand beaches, the
beautiful snow-capped mountains, and equally green in verdant hill country.
But that is Romania's golden key, touristically speaking. Romania offers
that perfectly delightful mix between genuine old world charm and traditions,
functioning seamlessly along a modern economy.
Until the recent financial crisis, incoming tourism to Romania raised
14%, showing a resilient and growing trade catering to the European and
American inbound market. Despite running less than 20% of the number of
nights spent [înnoptări], the euros and dollars spent constitute roughly
one quarter of the Romanian tourism market.
If you're the sort of independent traveller who primarily uses websites
like ours to navigate and enjoy this unique country, you will come to realise
that it is the little local travel agencies who can be your best ally.
The
little shops are usually conveniently located in was every sizeable town,
and you have a fair chance of finding at least one employee whose English
is good enough to help you on your way.
Because there is no national system of visitor information centres,
it's the agents you can rely on to be there when you need is greatest.
We have contacted agents in most major centres, and many of them advertise
with us so that you, the independent traveller in Romania, can have some
sort of network as you make your way from beach to vineyard, from monastery
to the Danube Delta, from ski slopes to a great night out at a very hot
club.

- I passed a familiar restaurant and I noticed something odd. A few years
ago this place was a cosy cafe with wobbly tables and good pizzas. But
everything looks different now.
- The cosy cafe has been upgraded, transformed into a swish restaurant.
Somebody has obviously invested in it, spotted the business potential.
Smart move -- could be a prime location -- city centre, lots of passing
trade.
- But the little wobbly tables are long gone. The door is no longer made
of dull steel. The decor is nautical -- the front of the restaurant
resembles the back of the Spanish galleon. Bronze lamps hang from rusty
looking chains in the lobby casting a yellow glow. It wasn't like this
1994. I wonder what it's called now.
- A faded plaque hangs above the entrance: The Boat
Yard: Since 1880. Since when?
