Reşiţa in County Caraş-Severin
Reşiţa (German: Reschitz, Hungarian: Resicabįnya, Serbian: Решица/Reica)
is a city in western Romania and the capital of Caraş-Severin
County, in the Banat region.
A mining centre in Roman times, the present-day city was founded
in the 18th century on a crown land of the Austrian Empire, when a
foundry was established on the spot. The name has its origin in the
Slavic Reshitsa, which is derived from reka ("river").
Reşiţa was of great importance to the Habsburg Monarchy due to
the industrialisation in the area and its strategic geographical
positioning; it became part of the Kingdom of Hungary in
Austria-Hungary after the Ausgleich, and was incorporated into
Romania with the rest of the Banat after World War I. An important
iron and steel center (the local factory is called CSR - Combinatul
Siderurgic Reşiţa), Reşiţa is the site of blast furnaces, iron
foundries, and plants producing electrical appliances, chemicals,
machinery, and metals.
Its 2004 population was 83,985.
Also, the city is a hub for leisure locations all around.
Locations near Reşiţa include the ski resort at Semenic, Lake Gozna,
Lake Secu, the Trei Ape Lake, Gărāna, Brebu, and Văliug.

Reşiţa in it's Glory Days of the 1970s.
Nevermind the crushing yoke of communism, things
were so shiny and new, who could complain?
