Yes, it's a bit flat, and a bit swampy, but this quiet stretch between
Bucharest and the Danube has bags of character!
Ialomiţa sports three main cities, the county
seat of Slobozia (population 56,913), Feteşti on the Danube, and Urziceni
towards Bucharest. There are four other towns, Amara,
Căzăneşti, Fierbinţi-Târg, and Ţăndărei, along with 57 communes and many

Car license plates start with IL, and the area code for
dialling is (x43)
Dialling Constanţa
All of the phone numbers in Constanţa
start with (0243) or (0343), depending on whether the service is
through the old state-run operator RomTelecom, or from one of the newer
entrants into the market in Romania.
Dailling to Constanţa, you must
remove any leading zero from the county code portion of the phone
number, so that (0243) becomes (243). Dialling a mobile
number, you do the same, dropping the zero from the (07XX) part of the
number, to make it (7XX). Both landlines and mobiles have 6
digits following the initial county code.
Halfway along the rich and fertile wide alluvial plains between
Bucharest and the Danube River is regional centre Slobozia. If
you're heading to or from
the Romanian Riviera
and need to stop, you can be connected within 15 minutes of the
freeway. Frankly, the drive from Slobozia on the old highway
crossing the Danube on a fun old bridge and going by the
Constanţa airport is alot more scenic
anyways.
Stil Invest, 27 Matei Basarab Street
in Slobozia Right along the main drag, this
business offers free wireless to those in need. Stop into
Slobozia from the Freeway of the Sun, quick and convenient (adds a
half hour to your trip)
