The county is crossed by many rivers, the most important being the

Towns
Timişoara is the the largest town, well over
300,000, and functions as a regional capital for the Banat region.
Lugoj follows at a distant second with 46,000 inhabitants, the only other
municipality in County Timiş.
Timiş is well populated, with eight smaller
towns, from Sânnicolau Mare and Jimbolia at over
10,000 people each, then Recaş, Buziaş, Făget, Deta,
Gătaia, and Ciacova all between 5,00 and 8,000.
Major communes include Becicherecu Mic, Dudeştii
Vechi and Remetea Mare, with Ianova being a notable village.
All of the phone numbers in the county, including
the main city of Timişoara with
(256) or (356), depending on whether
the service is through the old state-run operator RomTelecom, or
from one of the newer entrants into the market in Romania.
Dialling into anywhere in County
Timiş, you must
remove any leading zero from the county code portion of the phone
number, so that (0256) becomes (256). Dialling a mobile
number (Vodaphone, Zapp, Orange, Cosmote, etc), you do the same, dropping the zero from the (07XX) part of
the number, to make it (7XX). Both landlines and mobiles
have 6 digits following the initial county code.
Buziaş on the road to Oltenia from the Banat makes for a great
stopping off point for a bit of wireless and a snack!
We're really not sure about these ones, both sites are in the Alsax

their 37 A. Şaguna Street head offices.
